Puberty eats little girls

in Poetry

By Karla Cordero

TrainingBrasTraining bras in third grade are invitations to birthday parties my mother made me go to

I told her I was never best friends with Puberty

At recess I’d kiss childhood with crustless PB &J avoiding the itch of wires camouflaged in polka dots which kidnap my comfortable

Peanut butter had lost its taste

I’d over hear the prissy girls with mosquito bite cleavage adjust their pink polyester straps by the monkey bars

Samantha would say Boys like staring at boob skin, it makes their dingalings smile

Womanhood couldn’t sound more like pornography handcuffed to a 32A cup
